The
USB Pig Radio/speaker is an amazing example of a product that sounds much better than it is. And I don't mean the sound is good. What could possibly go wrong with a plastic pig that lets you listen to your favourite radio station and/or works as a speaker to amplify tunes from your ipod or PC?.
Well for starters, the radio function is
pants. The manufacturers have gone for the one button push-to-scan radio carcass that comes in your average free drug company distributed radio. So to say finding your favourite radio station is difficult is like saying the Iraq war is a friendly pillow fight between best friends. If you do manage to find it, once you turn pigzilla off it's gone again.
The speaker is unsurprisingly weak and easily distorted, but there is some small pleasure in hearing Nine Inch Nails' "Closer" through the mouth/snout of a cute little pig. Lucky it's cheap-ish. If nothing else it looks like a genuine piece of jap-pop cult detritus the kids go mad over these days and is gauranteed to start at least one conversation (even if it isn't a very interesting one). Wiggling the tail about for volume is a cute gimmick but not enough to save this one.
Buy one for it's looks but not it's goods.
