The LaCie Huby is
the best looking
USB hub I have ever seen. And I've seen one or two. Obviously LaCie realised that consumers are after useful things that look good on the desk. The Huby provides 4
USB 2.0 ports and 2 Firewire ports so you can connect every piece of
USB gadgetry at your disposal. The Huby goes one step further and gives you two standard bits of geek kit - a
USB Fan and LED light. Hell it even comes with 8 colourful LEDS - so you can turn your $80
USB hub into a $4 piece of dimestore tack.
It seems LaCie woke up to the fact that iPods are cool and stuff that looks iPod-ish is cool by association. They've also gone for a completely different design from anything else on the market, and this may be just enough to get people to fork over the 80 bucks for a what is essentially a glorified extension cord. The look is cool but the unfortunate reality is that the thing will fall over as soon as you plug anything into into it - especialy something that moves, - like a mouse. And it's not exactly a space-saver, so using it on a plane train or bus is out, unless you unplug the flexi cord things, and then, let's face it, it could be any other
USB hub.
All up, a great piece of art-tech gear that will look excellent plugged into an enormous ice white iMac next to the white as white iPod on a glass top desk in a clinical white minimalist office. It may even look ok on your desk.
